What do you think about the beginning of my children's picture book?

Meagan liked her hamster. She also liked her gold fish. But she was still lonely. What she really really wanted, was a special friend. Someone she could tell her best secrets to and play special games with. Sometimes she would make up friends. They would play hide and seek, and she would find them hiding in the closet. Or, they would play dress up, and she would ask, Tina how she looked in her new dress. But it just wasn't the same as having a real special friend. One night just before climbing into bed, Meagan decided to make a wish. She closed her eyes real tight, crossed her fingers, and wished as hard as she could, "Oh please send me a special friend!"
