What does it mean when two middle schoolers hold hands?

Ok so there's this guy I have a HUGE crush on, and he likes me too but is too afraid to say it. I've been trying to think of ways to show him that I really do like him. I've been flirting like crazy and so has he but idt he's picked up on the clues. Even though it's pretty obvious that if I went to his house at 2am(to get a poptart none the less) that I have feelings for you. Well anyways I was thinking if maybe I held his hand, he would take it as a more obvious clue and realize it, but before I'm going to do that I want to make sure of what it exactly means.
