How expensive does gas have to get so that we say "screw the tree-hugging commies and drill our soil"

If the Dems keep Congress this election, I say it never happens. The environmentalists have a vise grip on the Dems plumbing and they'll never back down. What puzzles me is how lame the Republicans are. The best way for them to take back Congress as well as the white house is hammer away on the restrictions on oil drilling. The oil price spikes would have people flocking to the GOP in droves. But given the quality of leadership in the GOP, I don't see that as an outcome.
